The WAC proudly offers classes for Adults and Teens in Ceramics, Glassblowing, and more. The whole family can enjoy an art class at the WAC! Summer Glassblowing Classes

Matt Clark & Lucy Berger Glassblowing Level 2This class will build on the skills learned in Level 1. We'll explore the vessel and work on different forms and shapes. Students will also learn several color application processes. Bring snacks and plenty of water. Glassblowing can be physically demanding. Students MUST be able to use both hands, stand for long periods of time outdoors, and work with a team. Wear natural fiber clothing (cotton long sleeves, jeans), closed-toe shoes. Safety goggles provided. Limit of 4 students, ages 16 and up. $180

Wear natural fiber clothing (cotton long sleeves, jeans), closed-toe shoes. Safety goggles provided. Limit of 4 students, ages 16 and up. $180

Summer Art Camps

We have one remaining camp session this year. The session is two weeks long, and runs Monday-Thursday. Choose from a variety of activities for morning, afternoon, or both, to customize your camp experience!

Autumn Ceramics Class Schedule (September - November, 2010)

M 6:30-9 PM Knudson Raku And More Raku is an American version of an ancient Japanese firing process. Red hot pottery is removed from the kiln, placed in a metal container of combustible materials, which results in vivid colors. Be a part of the whole process! You will make your own unique pieces during the class. Other firing options include Horse Hair Raku, Terra Sigilata burnished saggar, and smoke firings. Beginners and advanced students. $180 9/20 - 11/8
Tu 6:30-9 PM Dacar Clay Sampler Come and enjoy a Clay Buffet! In this 8-week class you will experience a little of everything. We start with hand building, then move to the pottery wheel. Basic and intermediate techniques will be demonstrated, along with an abundance of project ideas. Firing and glazing techniques will include raku and high fire stoneware. $180 9/21 - 11/9
W 6:30-9 PM Putnam Pottery Wheel and Handbuilding Have fun with clay as you explore the basic skills of making pottery on the potter's wheel. Work hands-on with a wheel in every class session, or try the slab roller and extruder to make hand build pieces! In this fun and friendly atmosphere, with lots of individual attention, we'll have you making plates, mugs, and bowls in no time at all. No experience necessary. $180 9/22 - 11/10
Th 9:30 AM-12 Knudson Daylight Pottery Are your evenings full? Want to try a daytime class? Then this is the class for you. Beginners will learn basic skills, and intermediate and advanced students are also welcome. Projects will include plates, bowls and vases, using pottery wheel and handbuilding techniques. $180 9/23 - 11/11
S 9:30 AM-12 Ransom Pottery Wheel This class is designed to help people progress towards individually set goals for the session. Beginners are taught centering and development of basic wheel thrown shapes, trimming, and glazing. Intermediate and advanced students may seek assistance in developing specific forms, or developing larger and more complex projects. Teaching is highly individualized with an emphasis on skill building and fun! $180 9/24 - 11/13

Youth Ceramics Classes

Tu 3:30-5 PM Staff Kids' Pottery Wheel Explore the basics of using the potter's wheel, to make bowls, plates, vases and mugs. Ages 12 and up. $96 9/21 - 11/9
Th 3:30-5 PM Staff Kids' Adventures In Clay Students will explore the basic skills of hand building with clay. We will work with extruded and slab forms. Possible projects include rattles, birdhouses, picture frames, bowls, mugs, and platters. Ages 8 and up, although children under 8 can take the class with parental supervision. $96 per child 9/23 - 11/11

for Elementary TeachersYou can teach Art! Join a veteran teacher for an Inservice Day Workshop that combines elements of the literacy model, science curriculum, writing, and art. Learn how to create unforgettable Art projects using simple materials, while reinforcing basic unit concepts. Workshop includes hands on Art Instruction, book list, and materials list. Great for teachers grades 1-5. Snacks and door prizes included! Limit 20 students.

You may have noticed our class fees have changed for the first time since 2006. That's because now all class fees include unlimited use of the WAC studio during your 8-week class period! No more buying an extra $40 studio pass in order to practice your new skills--it's all included.

Kids Scholarships Available

It's our mission as a Community Art Center to welcome one and all to learn more about the arts. We have a small scholarship fund available for all children's classes. If your child would love to take an Art Class but it's just not within your family's means right now, then Click Here to download an application.
