Get Into Art!

There's always something going on at the Willamette Art Center! Whether you'd like to join us at one of our many workshops or fundraisers, or want to throw a one-of-a-kind Birthday or Office party, we can set you up right!

Pottery Painting

The Italian art form of painting ceramics with bright colors over a white base glaze is known as "Majolica." Majolica parties are a fun, unique way to celebrate a birthday, show employee appreciation, or take your club or church out for a craftsy activity! Young and old can enjoy painting with food-safe, permanent glazes for a handmade treasure they can use and enjoy for years to come.

The WAC has a wide selection of ceramic pieces available for purchase. Ceramics are priced individually and range from $1-$30. Some are dipped in the white Majolica glaze, while others are "raw" bisque for painting directly. Both are ready for some serious decorating! We provide dozens of colored glazes, brushes, palettes, books for inspiration, and even a little coaching if needed!

Call or come by the studio for information and prices.Plan on spending about:
~ $25 per hour for an instructor (large groups may require two or more instructors).
~ Cost of ceramics (ranging from $1-$30 apiece)
~ Kiln and studio fees based on head count.

Throw-A-Thons

Can't get enough of making pottery? Prove it! Our Throw-A-Thons are a wonderful volunteer opportunity for all potters: Beginner or advanced, wheel throwers or handbuilders. We supply the clay, you work it into bowls or other vessels.

The pots made at these events will be used for our Fundraisers--either for the "Empty Bowls" event (more below), or for our Raku Pottery Experience at the State Fair. "EB" pots will be sold to benefit the Marion-Polk Food Share, while Raku "tea bowls" will be sold at the Fair to help fund our very own WAC.

A great way to turn fun into cash supportOur 2009 Empty Bowls Sale raised $13,600 for the Food Share! for two great causes! You don't have to be a member or student at the WAC to come in and throw some pots with us. Come on in for an artful afternoon with friends!

Empty Bowls Fundraiser Gala

The next Empty Bowls sale opens on November 19, from 10 AM to 4 PM! We'll have an Invitation Only gala the night before to start the season. Empty Bowls is our most popular fundraiser, and the bowls sell out quickly. It's a great chance to purchase some beautiful holiday gifts, while supporting the Marion-Polk Food Share!
