Contribute!

Make an online donation to the WAC right now, by clicking on the button at left. Tell us if you'd like to contribute to our Scholarship Fund ($100 will send a boy or girl to Summer Art Camp for two weeks!), or the General Budget (equipment, supplies, and operations of the studio).

The Friends are a 501-(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We consider our finances as a matter of public record, and we welcome any and all donors to inquire, at any time, exactly how their generous gifts are being used.

The Friends of the Visual Arts are eligible participants with the Oregon Cultural Trust. Donations made via the Cultural Trust qualify for a 100% tax credit in Oregon--please see their website for details.

The Friends also participate in GoodSearch.com. Every time you search the Web with this engine, they donate a penny to the WAC! You can "Back the WAC" just by surfing the web--how convenient is that? Click their logo to get started.

Recent Grants

The Friends thank the Meyer Memorial Trust for a 2008 Grassroots Grant. The grant supported a much needed upgrade to the Glassblowing exhibit in the Artisan's Village at the Oregon State Fair. It brought our glass equipment into the 21st century, allowing us to expand our art curricula, to offer Glass Blowing classes for the first time in Salem!

City of Salem Cultural and Tourism Promotion Advisory Board

The Friends have received two grants from this fund during Fiscal Year 2008. The first, a Capital Improvement grant, has been used to improve our Kiln Yard and create a new entrance to this area. The second is an Operating Expenses grant, and has contributed across the board to our programs.

The Friends thank the Oregon Arts Commission for their Arts Recognition Grant. This fund was used to develop and purchase promotional materials for the WAC, including brochures and a video about our Center.

2009 Grantor Profile:
Spirit Mountain Community Fund

The Friends thank the Spirit Mountain Community Fund and the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde for a 2009 Capacity Expansion Grant. These funds will help us "go Green" by recycling used clay and keeping it out of landfills. We have purchased a Pug Mill and gear that allows us to re-mix and reclaim clay, making it good as new for our students and artists to use!

2009 Grantor Profile: Marion Cultural Trust

The Friends thank the Marion County Cultural Development Corporation for a Capital Project grant to improve our new Glassblowing Studio. This grant will purchase a second glassblowing station, giving our students more time to practice hands-on techniques during class.

2009 Artisan's Village Sponsors

The Friends thank our "Porcelain Platter" sponsors for their generous donations to the Village Stage. Regenocyte Stem Cell Therapeutics and Bob's Red Mill have both made major contributions. These funds will help us attract and keep top-quality musical performers providing hours of free, live music at our largest annual fundraiser.

2009 Grantor Profile: City of Salem
Cultural and Tourism Promotion Advisory Board

The Friends thank the City of Salem for three grants from this fund for Fiscal Year 2009. We have received a Capital Project grant to convert our small classroom into a gallery for our students' and teachers' artwork. We've also received a Special Event grant to help beautify and promote the Artisan's Village, which is our largest annual fundraiser. Finally, we have received an Operations Grant, which contributes across the board to all of our programs.
