Ken’s experience with pottery stared over 45 years ago when he was an art student at Oregon Collage of Education. One day, while looking for the pop machine, he happened upon the ceramic studio and was hooked watching someone throw a pot. He was hired two years later at South Salem High School and taught there for thirty year. He spent most of those year teaching pottery. After retirement he found the Visual Art Center in Salem, which later changed to the Willamette Art Center and has been making pottery for 12 years and teaching for 7 at the center. He spends from 20 to 25 hours a week working in the studio.
This is Ken’s second tour of duty on the WAC Board this time as Treasurer. Beyond that he hopes to help the WAC grow and become an even better place for people in the Mid Valley to work and learn about pottery.
