Howl’s Moving Castle Raku

Liz Marek built this incredible sculpture based off Hayao Miyazaki’s animated movie of the same title while working with an Open Studio Pass at the Willamette Art Center. Its large size and complicated and delicate Steampunk details forced her to rebuild it twice adding additional support and details. Once the piece was completed it was glazed and Raku fired for an incredible effect. This piece won Best of Show, at the 2010 Oregon State Fair in the amateur division.
